AEG staff performed Phase I and Phase II Engineering services for the construction of a new 28-mile long bike trail along the Calumet-Sag Channel. Coordination consisted of managing multiple co-sponsors, with the City of Palos Heights as lead agency for the west segment and the City of Blue Island as lead agency for the east segment. Other agencies involved included the Alsip Park District, Forest Preserve District of Cook County, Village of Riverdale, Dolton Park District, Village of Dolton, Village of Burnham, and the City of Calumet City.

New fabricated steel bridges were designed and constructed at several locations across streams. In addition, slopewall modifications were done at numerous existing roadway bridge locations to allow the path to be constructed under the roadway adjacent to the channel.
