Expectations for the Senior CAD Designer role is to coordinate with a team of surveyors and engineers on transportation infrastructure projects and work with engineers, surveyors, technicians, and designers to develop technical drawings from equipment, engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings to ensure each design meets industry and client standards. The Senior CAD Designer will partner with engineering directors, project managers, surveyors, technicians, project engineers, and staff engineers to jointly lead the development of deliverables within the industry’s best practices framework. The ideal candidate is required to be organized, possess project management and leadership skills, and have the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. They shall have leadership qualities and demonstrate a collaborative mindset, superior communication skills, problem solving ability, organizational skills, and transparency.

Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Assist project managers by taking the lead on technical efforts and plans production
- Mentor junior engineers to develop sound drafting practices
- Ability to oversee statewide deployment of CADD standards and development of production standards and procedures
- Ability to become proficient as an administrator with ProjectWise
- Ability to become proficient with Microstation and AutoCAD software to prepare engineering drawings in 3D format
- 3D modeling experience required
- Open Road Designer (ORD) experience a plus
- Work closely with production teams to ensure coordinated design and application of best practices
- Use technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable client standards and costs
- Advanced knowledge of design standards to ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications
- Ability to neatly compile data and perform design documentation required for the preparations of drawings and quality control checks
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Surveying or as a Technician
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a CAD Designer
- Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
