Atlas, as a subconsultant, designed the Type, Size, and Location (TS&L) plans for the triple box culvert at 108th Avenue over Marley Creek and adjacent to Metra railroad tracks. The proposed culvert is on a 60 degree skew angle with 108th Avenue which complicated the structural analysis and design of the steel reinforcement in the top slab of the culvert. Atlas’ proposed solution was coordinated with and eventually approved by the IDOT Bridge Office because the skew angle exceeded standards.
